The India Esports League Season 4 Grand Finals drew a record 2 million concurrent live viewers across YouTube and JioTV, marking a watershed moment for competitive gaming in India and validating years of investment by developers and broadcasters.

The Event

The Finals featured eight teams competing across BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India), Valorant, and Street Fighter 6. The BGMI segment alone accounted for 1.4 million of the concurrent viewers — reflecting the outsized popularity of mobile gaming in India.

Commercial Significance

The viewership milestone attracted immediate attention from advertisers. Brands including Oneplus, Dream11, and Pepsi were among the title sponsors. Industry analysts estimate the event generated approximately ₹45 crore in sponsorship revenue.

Government Recognition

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports issued a statement acknowledging the milestone and reiterating the government's support for recognizing esports as a legitimate competitive sport. Esports India is now seeking to include gaming events at the national games.

The Path Ahead

With this viewership benchmark, India has now established itself as one of Asia's top three esports markets by audience size. The IEL Season 5 is expected to expand to 12 teams and add a mobile MOBA category.
